We are looking for an energetic, independent Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) to join our Charles Town district. If you are passionate about empowerment and ready to be a boots-on-the-ground advocate for your community, we want to meet you.
The Role
Under the guidance of a Case Manager, you will work directly in the community to bridge the gap between our consumers and local employers. This isn't a desk job—you’ll be in the field, facilitating orientations, providing job coaching, and fostering inclusive workplaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Job Coaching: Support individuals through new hire screenings, orientations, and daily job tasks to ensure long-term success.
- Advocacy: Identify and implement assistive technologies or reasonable accommodations to help consumers thrive.
- Relationship Building: Develop "natural supports" within the workplace, connecting consumers with coworkers and supervisors to decrease dependence on paid staff.
- Reporting: Maintain daily digital service logs (via Workplace by Google & Asana) and track employment milestones (pay rates, benefits, etc.).
- Transportation: Use your personal or agency vehicle to provide community and employment-related transport for participants.
What You Bring to the Team
- The Educator’s Mindset: 3 years of experience in General Education or Tutoring is highly preferred.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with diverse staff and clientele.
- Professionalism: High-level communication skills for public speaking and resolving employer issues with diplomacy.
- Organization: A knack for documentation, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects independently.
Education & Requirements:
- Degree: Bachelor’s (Early Childhood, Gen Ed, or History/Arts) OR Associate’s w/ 1 year of experience OR HS Diploma/GED w/ 2 years of relevant experience.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Asana.
- Credentials: Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proper insurance.
- Clearances: Must pass a drug screen and comprehensive background check (Federal/State/County).
- Certifications: First Aid/CPR (required upon employment; training provided).
