Omega Funeral & Cremation Service is a private family-owned funeral home in Portland. We are seeking professional, responsible, motivated individuals to join our team full time. We will provide/pay for health insurance for full time employees, Simple IRA match, vacation and 6 paid holidays.
Job Description Funeral Director/Embalmer
Responsibilities:
- Follow the employee handbook, including professional dress and footwear
-Meet with families to make at-need and/or pre-arrangements for direct cremations to full funerals
-Help directing services, including answering doors during service
-Help maintaining cleanliness of building
-Rotating on-call removal schedule about 5 nights a month
- On site weekend rotations for two months and then off weekends for about 6 months
-Preparation/embalming, dressing & casketing of deceased
-Any job duties as needed, including answering doors and phones, vehicles ready for services
Qualifications
Oregon Funeral Director and Embalmer License or ability to get an Oregon License quickly (1 to 2 years’ experience preferred).
Education/Experience:
-Graduation from an accredited school of Mortuary Science
-Preferred experience of doing removals and knowledge of on-site crematory, preferred but not required
-Must possess valid state driver’s license with a clean record
Required skills:
-Able to lift 100 pounds and push/pull up to 250 pounds
-Strong attention to detail and organization skills
-Basic knowledge of computers
-Excellent communication skills
-Ability and willingness to work in a team atmosphere in a very high paced and busy funeral home.
