What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Manager position at Omega Construction, Inc.?
Omega Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, with Retail & Hospitality experience, to support our project teams in delivering work on schedule, within budget, and to the quality of workmanship our clients expect. In this role, you'll work alongside Senior Project Managers on larger, complex projects while also having the opportunity to manage smaller projects with growing independence — gaining hands-on experience across every phase of construction, from preconstruction through closeout.
What You'll Do
You'll serve as a key member of the project team, partnering closely with Senior Project Managers, superintendents, owners, architects, and engineers to keep projects moving. You'll touch nearly every phase of project delivery — from estimating and buyout through documentation, scheduling, field coordination, and closeout. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing takeoffs, estimates, and buyout of major materials, and soliciting and scoping subcontractor and vendor bids
- Assisting with project start-up, including permits, licenses, and jobsite mobilization
- Leading document management and project controls — drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and subcontract agreements
- Maintaining project management software, including job status reports, pay applications, change orders, and cost projections
- Managing the full submittal process from initial review through procurement tracking
- Supporting development of project schedules, quality control plans, and job-specific safety plans
- Leading subcontractor start-up meetings and coordinating daily with superintendents on active projects
- Serving as a key point of contact for the Engineer and Architect, and resolving daily field issues with the project team
- Reviewing and coding invoices, managing the punch list, and conducting owner training
- Leading the closeout process, including warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals, and final project records
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- 4 years of construction industry experience preferred
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and a valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, construction drawings, and engineering/architectural drawings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, Bluebeam Revu, Timberline Estimating, or AutoCAD is a plus
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities across the life of a project
- A high degree of responsibility, ownership, and integrity, with a team-oriented approach to solving problems
- Up-to-date CPR/AED certification and 30-hour OSHA training (within the last 5 years) — Omega will provide if needed
