What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Specialist position at Omega 365?
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the company’s network infrastructure, servers, routers, switches, and security systems across all operational sectors (Ship Repairs, Ship Building, and Dredging).
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and access control issues.
- Provide technical support for PLC-based control systems and ensure optimal functionality across multiple operational sites.
- Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC units and Teledyne software for hydrographic surveying and dredge monitoring.
- Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment including desktops, laptops, printers, and specialized software applications.
- Ensure data security through regular backups, system recovery tests, and cybersecurity protocol enforcement.
- Support staff with first-line technical assistance and conduct training on system use and cybersecurity best practices.
- Maintain IT asset inventory, licensing, user credentials, system logs, and documentation of IT procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and data protection standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support operational efficiency and minimize system downtime.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in IT support, preferably within an industrial or maritime environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of PLC systems and hands-on experience with Teledyne PDS.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with IP camera systems and communication protocols is considered an asset.
