OMARA Engineering PC is seeking an Instrumentation/Automation Engineer to lead project teams on large projects and execute small projects in both office and operating plant environments. This is a professional-level position requiring a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
The ideal candidate will have well-rounded experience with visual monitoring, inspection, guidance, and control systems; motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motion control systems, robotics, low-voltage power distribution for communications, process instrumentation and controls, and detailed electrical design for panels, control cabinets, wiring, cable trays, conduits, fiber optics, and associated electrical instrumentation.
Controls and automation experience must include the evaluation, selection, specification, programming, and implementation of control system architectures for distributed control systems (DCS) and standalone programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. The candidate must be able to interpret and prepare detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), functional descriptions, instrument lists, process and control narratives, and control logic for process equipment and industrial processing plants.
A comprehensive technical background with hands-on experience troubleshooting and configuring electronic control systems is required, particularly with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and related communication interfaces.
Recent experience must include extensive programming and troubleshooting of existing control systems. Responsibilities will include controls and automation system upgrades, system expansions, and technology migration to current and emerging industry standards. Experience with advanced process control and analysis using linked multivariable trending and decision analysis is expected.
The position will be based in Western New York.
