What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Omaha Tribe of Nebraska?
SUMMARY: As a heavy equipment operator you will be required to drive and control construction equipment. Including bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, dump trucks, cargo trucks, snow plows, large mowers, and other heavy equipment specifically required for the assigned project. Handle loading and excavation machines to dig and lift sand, gravel and earth. Operate paving surface equipment to spread concrete and asphalt during the construction of roadways. Operate Pile-Driver equipment to hammer heavy beams of wood, concrete and steel into the ground.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the Omaha Tribes operating safety policies and procedures.
- Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance.
- Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
- Ensure the equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials and refuse.
- Observe distribution of paving material to adjust machine setting or material flow and indicate low spots for workers to add material.
- Complete the required paper work, reporting and other documentation daily, weekly and monthly.
- Adhere to the Omaha Tribe Code of conduct and work ethic standards.
- Comply with the Omaha Tribe EO, Sexual Harassment, Alcohol and Drug free policy at all times.
- Must have good time management skills.
- Must have good problem solving skills.
- Other duties assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school Diploma or GED required
- Moderate to Advanced experience required with the following Machinery, Dozer, Backhoe, 3 ton hauler, forklift, snow plow, dump trucks, cargo trucks, large mowers and tractors.
- Certified CDL, Driving vehicles on state roadways that require a CDL.
- Must possess a Valid State Driver's license
- Must be able to obtain a CDL if not already qualified.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Will be required to climb in and out of large equipment

Salary : $20 - $23
