Omaha Steel Casting (Owen Industries) – Remote / Field-Based | Full-Time | Exempt | [Base Commission TBD]

Sell a Specialty Product. Own Your Territory. Work From Anywhere.

Omaha Steel Casting is growing — and we're looking for a seasoned Technical Sales professional to help drive that growth. This is a fully remote, field-based role focused on high alloy steel castings across a range of demanding industrial markets. You'll work from home when you're not in front of customers, manage your own territory, and represent a product that requires real technical credibility to sell.

If you have 7–10 years of foundry or industrial metals sales experience, a book of business, and the hunter mentality to go find new opportunities — we want to talk.

The Details

  • Compensation: [Competitive base salary commission — TBD]
  • Location: Remote / field-based — work from home with travel to customer sites
  • Travel: Up to 60–70% regional and national travel
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
  • Mileage reimbursement or vehicle allowance provided per company policy

What You'll Do

Business Development & Territory Management

  • Identify, target, and develop new customer accounts within your assigned territory or vertical market focus
  • Conduct in-person customer visits, site calls, and plant tours to build relationships and uncover casting requirements
  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan with defined prospecting cadences, pipeline milestones, and revenue targets
  • Represent Omaha Steel Casting at industry trade shows, association events, and technical conferences

Account Management & Customer Retention

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts as the primary outside contact for commercial and technical inquiries
  • Conduct regular account reviews and on-site visits to monitor satisfaction, identify expansion opportunities, and address issues proactively
  • Collaborate with inside sales and customer service teams to ensure seamless order management and communication
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms within company margin and capacity guidelines

Technical Selling & Application Support

  • Translate customer engineering requirements into casting specifications and alloy recommendations
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, metallurgy, and quality teams to develop technically sound proposals
  • Assist customers in navigating material specifications, standards (ASTM, ASME, NACE), and approval processes

Quoting, Forecasting & Pipeline Management

  • Prepare and present technically accurate, competitive proposals and quotations in coordination with estimating and operations
  • Maintain accurate CRM records including opportunity status, contacts, activity notes, and forecast data
  • Provide timely and reliable sales forecasts to support production planning and capacity management
  • Track and report on territory performance, win/loss trends, and market intelligence

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 7–10 years of outside sales experience in foundry, industrial manufacturing, metals, or engineered products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of steel casting processes, metallurgy, or comparable manufactured metal components
  • Proven track record of new business development and territory growth
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal, close, and fulfillment
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and standard sales reporting tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and material standards
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 60–70% of the time

Preferred

  • Existing book of business with experience selling high alloy, stainless, or heat-resistant steel castings
  • Familiarity with ASTM/ASME casting standards and corrosion-resistant alloy grades (CF8M, CN7M, HC, HH, HP, etc.)
  • Background in target end markets including oil & gas, chemical processing, mining, or power generation
  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent industry experience
