Non-exempt Salaried position

Scope of Responsibilities:

The Scenic Carpenter is one of a team responsible for constructing all Playhouse production scenery. This person serves as a carpenter, fabricator, rigger and welder, assisting in mounting all sets on stage and making them operational.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Construct and mount stage scenery for all productions and special Playhouse projects.
• Maintain sets throughout the run, striking and storing scenery and equipment when a show closes.
• Work under the joint supervision of the Technical Director and the Shop Foreman and within the guidelines, standards and schedules set forth by them.
• Assume supervisory duties in absence of the Shop Foreman.
• Supervise and instruct Apprentice Students and volunteers who are assigned to scene shop work.
• Participate in shop and equipment maintenance, material purchasing and the stocking of supplies.
• Submit in timely fashion, all expenditure receipts to the Technical Director.
• Help with electrics, props, and paints as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience working as carpenter on stage and in a scene shop.
• Willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule.
• Welding experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Desirable Qualification:

• Post-secondary technical theatre training.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
