Role Description The Make Ready Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX, responsible for preparing apartment homes for new and returning residents. This role typically includes cleaning, minor repairs, touch-up painting, fixture and appliance checks, and ensuring units meet company standards before move-in. The Make Ready Technician may assist with basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters, light bulbs, and hardware, and reporting any issues beyond the scope of make-ready work to the maintenance team. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining organized work areas, following safety procedures, and coordinating with the maintenance supervisor and office team to meet turn deadlines. This position contributes directly to resident satisfaction by ensuring apartment homes are clean, functional, and move-in ready.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, including painting, minor plumbing fixes, and simple electrical work.
- Skills in cleaning and detailing apartment interiors, ensuring units meet cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Capacity to use hand tools and small power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to complete multiple unit turns within set timelines.
- Attention to detail in inspecting units, identifying issues, and reporting needed repairs accurately.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with maintenance staff, community managers, and other team members.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines, lift moderate loads, and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and moving equipment.
- Previous experience in apartment make-ready, maintenance, or a related trade is preferred.
