Job Summary:
The Fox Security Representative position under general supervision, protects the organization’s physical assets by maintaining and safeguarding the physical perimeter, exterior, and interior perimeters of the facility by foot, vehicle, or bike patrol. This position is responsible for responding and overseeing emergency situations, coordinating external resources and assisting the supervisor in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security. Representatives are responsible for conducting regular inspections of protective equipment, lighting, locks and for reporting their condition. This will be accomplished through regularly assigned security checks of the Fox Office Center, Fox Theatre, Hockeytown, Fox Parking Structure, The District Detroit, ODM Parking Lots, and the Little Caesar’s Global Resource Center (GRC). At times a Representative will be assigned specials details. These details could range from driving a guest or colleague to a specific location, conducting special details, or being assigned to another venue to assist with their security. Care should be taken by personnel assigned to conduct scheduled and random patrols of vulnerable or critical areas. Patrols should cover the entire building(s) and grounds. The primary purpose is to prevent unlawful and/or unauthorized activities and to deter and deny the opportunity. Care and vigilance must be exercised when conducting these patrols. Report any incident of situations that require further investigation or follow-up
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide security protection for all organizational facilities, proprietary material, and personnel within the areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, theft, or intentional destruction.
  • Monitor flow of personnel entering and exiting the facility. Audit personnel/visitor authorization and control activities to verify personal and organization ID.
  • Ensure the protection of colleagues, guests, and patrons in and around the Fox Centre to include potential situations and physical confrontations.
  • Maintain and update visitor logs, commercial deliveries and outside contractors entering and exiting the facility.
  • Visually inspect common areas to prevent any hazards, ensure proper safety procedures are followed and provide documentation of security, fire, and safety deficiencies.
  • Escort guests and organization personnel throughout the facility as directed.
  • Oversee handling of emergency situations, including employee injuries.
  • Respond to incidents, investigates, interviews, and gathers pertinent & factual information to complete incident reports.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new and improved security programs.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties.
  • Assist in the education of corporate colleagues on security related issues.
  • Provide Security Service to all Fox Theater & Columbia Street Events.
  • Oversee and respond to all Fire/Life Safety System Alerts for the Fox Building/Fox Theater/GRC/Columbia Tenants/Hockeytown Café campus.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Mobile Patrols:
  • Mobile patrols are utilized to conduct exterior patrols of the District Detroit Area and to provide visual deterrence within the perimeter. The District Detroit perimeter is as follows:
    1. The Westbound Fisher Service Drive (North)
    2. Brush Street (East)
    3. Grand Circus Park (South)
    4. Grand River (West)
  • All mobile patrols will be called into dispatch to report fuel, mileage, and the condition of the vehicle, prior to and immediately after each patrol. Staff members, operating the vehicle are responsible for the condition of the vehicle to include, fluid vehicles, tire pressure, cleanliness, etc… This information must be documented on the Mobile Inspection Sheets available in the mobile vehicles. Report any problems with the mobile unit to the Command Center and the Manager on duty immediately.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years progressive experience with a law enforcement, public or private security organization.
    • Any Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • CPR/FA, AED training.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The colleague is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The colleague is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; explosives; risk of radiation; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
