Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, tanker trucks, bulk trucks, and other specialized vehicles to deliver bulk fuel and freight.
- Load and unload fuel efficiently using appropriate equipment.
- Plan and follow optimized delivery routes to meet schedule deadlines while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, identifying maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports, including delivery receipts, route sheets, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that arise on the road.
- Follow all safety protocols related to handling hazardous materials like fuel, including proper loading/unloading procedures and spill prevention measures.
- Operate additional equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading freight at warehouses.
- Assist with general warehouse duties when not on delivery routes, supporting inventory management or yard operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) A with hazmat endorsement a requirement.
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with bulk fuel delivery or similar freight handling.
- Strong knowledge of route driving best practices along with excellent navigation skills.
- Excellent safety awareness and adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform vehicle inspections regularly.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with dispatchers and customers.
