This role is responsible for building and executing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting lean manufacturing practices to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Senior Maintenance Manager leads a team of skilled maintenance technicians and collaborates closely with production, quality, and safety teams to support the reliable operation of all plant equipment and utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a robust preventative maintenance (PM) program to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance to identify trends and proactively address issues.
- Lead the adoption of predictive maintenance technologies and practices where applicable.
- Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team to ensure technical expertise, accountability, and strong safety performance.
- Schedule and assign daily maintenance activities, balancing routine work, emergency repairs, and improvement projects.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance equipment reliability, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing goals.
- Use tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5S, TPM, and kaizen events to drive performance improvements.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to support new equipment commissioning and layout optimization.
- Oversee the maintenance and compliance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, etc.).
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, USDA, FDA, and company safety and food quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
- Manage departmental budget including labor, parts inventory, contractor services, and capital projects.
- Source and oversee external contractors and vendors as needed for specialized projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including 5 years in a leadership or management role—preferably in a food, meat, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, PLC/automation, refrigeration, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software required.
- Knowledge of lean tools (5S, TPM, Six Sigma) and continuous improvement principles.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
- Clear communicator with ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels.
- Proficient personal computer skills (MS office applications – Word, Office, Excel)
- Knowledge of time and attendance software
- Knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) system - RedZone
- Ability to read and write in the English language

Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
