The Assistant Director for AVL Production will assist in the support of both event production and instructional technology on campus. The ADAVLP is part of a team that ensures the success of all productions sponsored by Olivet. The ADAVLP will also assist in the installation, programming, and support of all audio-visual systems on campus. Duties also include, but are not limited to, live event support, audio-visual system maintenance, and classroom support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and direct audio, video, lighting, and multimedia equipment (including but not limited to ProPresenter and QLab software) for live campus events, athletics, and conferences.
- Supervise, train, and schedule student workers to support event production, ensuring high-quality results and smooth execution of setup, operation, and teardown.
- Manage live streaming and broadcast workflows, troubleshooting issues under pressure to maintain professional standards.
- Install, program, and maintain AV systems for classrooms, conference rooms, and event venues, including Crestron systems.
- Support the campus digital signage network using a CMS and manage Apple devices with JAMF.
- Troubleshoot and resolve classroom and instructional technology issues promptly to minimize disruption.
- Manage departmental resources, including work orders, production requests, equipment inventories, and system documentation.
- Cross-train with other Media Services Staff to develop basic proficiency in key areas as defined by the Director of Media Services.
- Additional duties assigned by the Director of Media Services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.
- Demonstrated experience in live event production, including audio mixing, video directing, lighting console operation, and live streaming.
- Familiarity with ProPresenter, QLab, JAMF, Mvix CMS, and Crestron systems.
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow, routing, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing personnel, events, equipment, and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, students, and campus partners.
- Ability to lead, supervise, and mentor student workers effectively.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing events and support demands.
- In the day-to-day operation of Media Services, it is necessary at times to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies such as speakers, lighting fixtures, road cases, and supplies up and down stairs. Any item over 40 pounds requires the assistance of a second person.

Level of education required for this role: A bachelor’s degree is the lowest level of requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Assistant Director for AVL Production will work in various environments around campus. The primary location will be in the office. In addition to office time, the ADAVLP will be on site to resolve issues, replace equipment, and install new equipment. This could be in any of our classrooms and auditoriums, as well as occasional off-site work for conferences and event support.
The job consists of office time and some events. The ADAVLP will be required to work nights and weekends in addition to the standard 8-5 office hours. In the typical office day, the ADAVLP could expect to do a myriad of tasks including, but not limited to, troubleshooting classroom issues related to Crestron and other instructional technology, staffing an event, completing work orders, documentation, and helping another colleague with a work order issue.

The salary for this position is $25.00 per hour and is based on experience and education.
