Campus Safety Part-time

The University of Olivet is seeking a dedicated and vigilant part-time Campus Safety Officer (CSO) to play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our vibrant campus community. As a CSO, you will be responsible for ensuring the protection of individuals and property, as well as acting as a reliable responder during emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols across campus, including securing buildings by locking/unlocking as required.
• Emergency Response: Assist with emergencies, demonstrating calmness and efficiency under pressure.
• Regulation Enforcement: Enforce campus policies, including student life and parking regulations.
• Incident Reporting: Write clear, concise reports on incidents and apply loss prevention techniques as needed.
• Physical Stamina: Perform extensive foot patrols and remain standing for long periods.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate campus incidents, including conducting interviews with involved parties using trauma-informed approaches when appropriate.
• First Aid Support: Utilize first aid techniques when necessary (certification preferred).

 Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in criminal justice preferred.
• Experience: Prior security experience or related field is preferred.
• Certifications: Must pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle clearance to drive university vehicles.
• Skills: Strong ability to interact professionally in diverse situations, including high-stress or emergency scenarios.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform foot patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond to emergencies as needed.
• First Aid Knowledge: First aid knowledge and certification is highly desirable.
