Description:
Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company is a full-service company providing commercial development, commercial brokerage and leasing, and tenant representation throughout Middle and East Tennessee. We are a family-owned business looking for an experienced controller to become an integral part of our team.
The controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting for the company and affiliated entities, providing financial insight to support company decision making and long-term planning.
Responsibilities:
· Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/Bank reconciliations
· Payroll & Payroll Taxes
· Monthly Financials and Real Estate Commission Reporting
· Quarterly Payroll Taxes, F & E and Federal quarterly tax estimates
· Coordinate with Property Manager for maintenance and repair costs for Properties/Tenants
· Negotiate loan terms and rates on current loans and new loans
· Work on proformas and loan drafts on new building projects
· Manage formation and/or dissolution of companies when real estate is acquired or disposed of
· Coordinate with CPA firm to make the correct adjusting entries when purchasing/selling property
· Process all property taxes when due and reconcile tenant tax accounts and CAM accounts
· Year-end financial processing including 1099’s, W2’s, and financials to CPA firm for tax return processing
· Pay year end Federal and State taxes when received from CPA firm
· Maintain all accounting files, tax files, contract files, tenant CAM & tax files
· Maintain Real Estate License files
· Process new realtor and employee forms
· Process new employee insurance applications
· Process new building insurance policies
Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Accounting
Licenses and Certifications:
· CPA License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting principles
· Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate with the team
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Excellent memory
· 10 years of experience (preferred)
· Accounting Software: Sage (preferred)
Position Details:
· Full-time, on site, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday
· Office environment
