Role snapshot
- Configure and operate high-speed carton windowing equipment for each job.
- Load paperboard blanks and window film; align to meet job requirements.
- Set glue systems and guides to ensure accurate placement and registration.
- Conduct continuous in-process checks (registration, glue adhesion, film placement).
- Maintain target run speeds while meeting quality standards.
- Identify and prevent defects: misaligned windows, glue overflow, scratches, wrinkles.
- Complete production/quality documentation: counts, downtime, and waste.
- Partner with QC and finishing teams to resolve any issues quickly.
Maintenance & safety
- Perform routine preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical/electrical problems to keep production moving.
- Adhere to safety procedures (lockout/tagout, PPE, housekeeping).
Team collaboration
- Work closely with feeders, packers, and helpers to optimize throughput.
- Communicate status, material needs, and mechanical concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with training apprentices or new hires when needed.
What you bring
- Experience operating finishing/packaging machinery; folding carton or print/packaging preferred.
- Mechanical skill for setups, adjustments, and light maintenance.
- Strong quality mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to read job tickets, work orders, and specifications.
- Competent with basic math and measurements.
Preferred
- Hands-on windowing machine experience.
- Familiarity with adhesives, window films, and board substrates.
- Forklift certification or safe material-moving experience.
Physical requirements
- Stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during shifts.
- Work effectively around noise, dust, and moving equipment.
- Flexibility for overtime and variable shifts as production requires.
