Teaching at Oliver Middle School
Oliver Middle School teachers work with a team of diverse colleagues to develop rigorous curricula, deliver engaging lessons, and support all students in their academic, social, and emotional wellbeing. Specifically, for this math position, we are looking for a teacher who deeply understands both the standards and concepts central to 5th grade math as well as someone who is deeply committed to developing the whole child by implementing SEL skills development explicitly and implicitly through their instruction.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in accordance with the school's curriculum and standards.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to facilitate student understanding and engagement in scientific concepts.
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.
- Use behavior management techniques to promote a respectful and productive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success.
- Provide academic advising and guidance to students regarding their educational goals.
- Provide tutoring and mentoring to students who require additional support.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification in 5-8 math instruction or relevant subject area, or willingness to work toward certification in MA; SEI endorsement
- Experience teaching math at the elementary or middle level preferred
- Knowledge of current educational trends, technology, and best practices in science education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including students with special education needs.

- Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

Your salary is commensurate with experience and the Lawrence Public Schools salary scale.
