Pressroom Feeder Technician — Multi-Color Offset & Coatings

Your shift and scope

Second shift: 3:00pm to 11:30pm. You’ll assist in make-readies and production on multi-color packaging work across offset (and with exposure to flexographic or gravure workflows), ensuring smooth setups, quality output, and efficient turnovers.

What you’ll tackle

• Review job orders, department instructions, proofs, save sheets, and specs before each job.
• Install/remove plates, blankets, and coating blankets; pack plate/blanket cylinders to spec.
• Set/adjust side guides, head stops, gripper fingers, and double-sheet detectors.
• Maintain fountain solution levels and conductivity; replenish inks, coatings, and offset powder.
• Retrieve, mount, and return inks and plates as required.
• Wash ink units, blankets, cylinders, and fountain tanks between runs.
• Set up and operate scanning densitometers to confirm print quality; assist in identifying non-conforming material.
• Support preventative maintenance, including roller changes and minor repairs.
• Move finished product from the press to designated staging areas.
• Keep the area clean, organized, and safe; help train Press Apprentices; provide lead coverage during breaks.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

What it takes to succeed

• High school diploma or GED; fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Accurate color vision; solid math with fractions and decimals; basic computer skills preferred.
• 1 year on a multi-color offset, flexographic, or gravure press, or as a 2nd Pressman/Feeder or Assistant Pressman on a multi-color offset crew.
• Preferred: 4-color process experience; Mitsubishi familiarity; blanket changes, cylinder packing, wash-ups, and fountain system know-how.
• Extra credit: paperboard, UV inks, in-line coating, and scanning/handheld densitometry.
• Detail-driven with continuous in-process inspection; able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter mindset with clear ambitions to learn and advance.
