Burlington, NJ Full Time
POSTED ON 11/17/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/14/2025

PART-TIME Brain Injury Support Specialist (BISS) needed for Burlington and Camden County. Olive Branch utilizes person centered practices and guidelines for assessments and interventions to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities or occupations of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries. We provide in-person support, allowing individuals with TBIs to accomplish everyday tasks such as budgeting, bill pay, paperwork organization, maintaining daily routines, tasks, scheduling and organizing, meal planning and trips to critical places like Drs and food stores.

Part-time BISS's are responsible for traveling within a 25-mile radius of your home to visit clients in their homes weekly. Each visit will be two hours. You will receive overall goals to achieve each visit based on an initial Intake. These goals will need to have compensatory strategies applied to support the individuals's performance of daily activities and living independently. This means, you will need to be able to take a large task and break it down into manageable pieces. You will be addressing the household management or life skills for each person differently. No manual labor or ADL's (Activities of Daily Living). Your initial caseload will be dependent on your availability. It can range from 2 to 6 cases. You will be responsible for keeping consistency with your client visits and providing brief notes after each session. You will be able to assess their progress and participation as it relates to their goals.

Critical Skills: Active listening: Listening and decyphering the goals each session and achieving them together with each person. Teaching. You need to be able to teach someone something new so they can master a skill. Flexibility shows you're able to roll with changes. Being resourceful helps to solve problems and you're not afraid to figure things out as you learn. You must be able to communicate with each person on their level of comprehension. You must maintain a calm and confident disposition that supports positive outcomes for each session. Being proactive shows you're prepared and ready to dive in and support. Being intuitive to a person's capabilities and learning styles so you can adapt your techniques and tools that work best for their success.

Qualifications: We hire various backgrounds. We welcome applicants with experiences in Occupational Therapy, teaching, learning specialists, behavior therapy, group home program management, or similarly qualified professionals. We prefer to have staff come from knowledge and some experience working with TBI individuals, however, with the right transferrable skills, we can mentor and help you learn more about working with this unique population. We offer TBI training and on-going professional development.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: College degree showing how the degree would transfer into supporting this population.

Experience: A minimum of 12 months experience working with the TBI population or a similar field with similar characteristics. Be able to discuss how your skills could benefit Olive Branch clients.
