Job Summary
Remove used tableware between courses and at the end of meal; clear and reset tables after guests leave. Be available to assist servers as needed.
Activities & Responsibilities
Primary:
- Work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of The Hive: To serve our customers reliably and well. To treat our employees with respect.
- Upon arriving, check with manager and servers to see if there are immediate needs, and for directions.
- Bring water or non-alcoholic beverages to newly seated guests upon server directions.
- Respond appropriately to guest requests.
- Locate items requested by guests or communicate guest requests to server as appropriate.
- Assist server as needed with food delivery and other requests, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
- Thank guests as they leave.
- Set tables with clean linens, flowers, salt and pepper, or other supplies within 1 minute.
- Promptly clean table tops, chairs, booths, and the floor under and around tables between guests.
- When taking soiled tableware to dish area, scrape, unload, sort and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas.
- Clean up spilled food or drink or broken dishes and remove trash.
- Clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of the restaurant, and mop or vacuum floors.
- Make sure patios are clean and organized and tables are ready for service.
- Fill beverage or ice dispensers.
- Roll silverware and band.
- Communicate with server and host or hostess to expedite efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
Supplemental:
- Carry linens to/from laundry areas.
- Become knowledgeable about the OHB company, history and Chico Honey products, through company provided training, in order to share this information with customers.

Minimum Qualifications
- Able to obtain CA Food Handler’s training class and be able to pass the exam.
- Able to carry multiple plates for delivery to the dish room.
- Able to understand and speak using the predominant language(s) of guests.
- Able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room employees.
- Able to safely lift bags, cases and stacks weighing up to 20 pounds up to 30 times per shift.
- Able to lift, reach, bend and stoop. o Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment. o Able to read and comprehend labels on chemicals.
