Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and engage with them to understand their preferences and needs
- Assist customers in selecting wines, offering recommendations based on flavor profiles, occasions, or pairings
- Conduct product demos to educate customers about new or featured wines and promotions
- Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing
- Maintain attractive merchandising displays and ensure shelves are stocked with fresh inventory
- Manage stock levels by receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and organizing storage areas efficiently
- Upsell additional products such as wine accessories, glassware, or gift sets to enhance customer purchases
- Uphold excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or taking orders remotely
- Ensure compliance with all store policies regarding age verification and responsible alcohol sales
- Support team supervision by assisting with training new staff or guiding less experienced team members
Experience
- Previous retail sales experience, preferably in a wine store is highly desirable
- Supervising experience in a retail environment is a plus, demonstrating leadership and team collaboration skills
- Familiarity with POS systems and cashiering procedures ensures smooth transaction handling
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse customers and team members
- Experience conducting product demos or upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities
