Oleven is recruiting for an experienced Controls Engineer to join an engineering team specializing in control systems for industrial and commercial turbomachinery.
This position will work on automation and turbomachinery control system integration projects for clients across power generation, oil & gas, chemical processing, industrial cogeneration and other complex industrial environments.
The Controls Engineer will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, including system design, programming, integration, testing, commissioning and customer support.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop and implement turbomachinery control systems, including control hardware, logic and interface software
- Program control logic, develop HMI graphics, configure databases and integrate field devices
- Lead and execute control system integration projects from design through commissioning
- Read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, control narratives, loop sheets, electrical drawings, I/O lists and related technical documentation
- Develop control system schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts
- Support panel assembly, testing and customer witness testing
- Perform installation support, loop checkout, startup, commissioning and troubleshooting at customer sites
- Work directly with customers throughout project execution
- Lead projects and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians and craftspeople
- Develop technical documentation and customer training materials
What We're Looking For
- 5–10 years of directly related experience in turbomachinery controls, process controls or industrial automation
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline; Electrical, Controls or Computer Engineering preferred. Equivalent technical education and experience may be considered
- Experience with one or more PLC, DCS or turbine control platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Woodward, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa Centum, Emerson DeltaV, Siemens S7/T3000 or Modicon
- Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms such as Wonderware System Platform, GE Cimplicity, GE iFIX, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens, Schneider Citect or Iconics Genesis64
- Understanding of industrial electrical and control systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently manage complex projects
- Strong client-facing communication and project leadership skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 30%, including international travel
Additional Experience That Is Helpful
Experience with power generation, turbines and compressors, generator excitation systems, protective relaying, industrial motor controls, VFDs, Ethernet/network architecture, serial communications, control panel design or AutoCAD Electrical is valuable.
Compensation
Base salary of $95,000–$135,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus a discretionary bonus and employee stock program.
- This is a full-time hybrid position based in Loveland, Colorado.
