OLEGISAR (Argentine Legislative Observatory) is looking for a visiting researcher, based in New Haven, for an in-person comparative law project on regulatory delegation and economic criminal law.
OLEGISAR is an independent legal research center dedicated to the study of regulation, legislation, and public institutions in Argentina. We publish policy papers, academic articles, and legislative commentary, with our own ISSN and research lines in public law, economic regulation, and governance.
The project
A recurring problem in economic criminal law is how far a legislature can delegate to the administration the definition of elements that affect sentencing, without violating the principle that only statute can define criminal liability. We're looking to compare how Argentine and U.S. law approach this problem, focusing on the nondelegation doctrine and its recent application by the U.S. Supreme Court, and contrasting it with how Argentine economic criminal law treats regulatory delegation.
Format
This is an in-person role based in New Haven, in the neighborhood around the central campus, with regular working sessions to be scheduled by mutual agreement. The exact meeting location will be shared with selected applicants.

Who we're looking for
- Advanced undergraduates, JD or LLM students, or graduate students based in New Haven with an interest in criminal law, constitutional law, or comparative law. No prior knowledge of Argentine law is required, just genuine interest in the problem and the ability to work independently with sources in both English and Spanish.
