What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Manager position at Olde Tyme Grocery?
Olde Tyme Grocery | Lafayette, LA
Olde Tyme Grocery has been a Lafayette tradition for decades, serving quality food with exceptional customer service. As we continue to grow, we're intentionally building a leadership team—not just filling a management position. We're looking for energetic Restaurant Managers who want to make an impact.
This isn't a position for someone who simply supervises shifts. We're looking for leaders who set the pace, inspire others, and take ownership of the restaurant every day. If you're someone with hustle, a positive attitude, strong character, and the ability to motivate a team, we'd love to meet you.
- Lead daily restaurant operations and ensure every shift runs smoothly.
- Coach, develop, and motivate team members.
- Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and customer service.
- Solve problems quickly and confidently.
- Open or close the restaurant depending on your scheduled shift.
- Jump in wherever needed—from the sandwich line to the dining room—because no job is beneath a leader.
- Help build a positive, accountable culture where employees enjoy coming to work and take pride in what they do.
We can teach our systems. We can't teach energy, integrity, or work ethic. Our ideal Restaurant Manager is someone who:
- Brings hustle and intensity to every shift.
- Leads by example instead of watching from the sidelines.
- Naturally motivates people to do their best.
- Has outstanding character, honesty, and accountability.
- Communicates with confidence and respect.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Takes initiative without waiting to be told what to do.
- Wants to grow into a long-term leadership role.
Restaurant management experience is preferred but not required for the right leader.
We're building a management team that provides leadership throughout the day. Typical Monday–Friday shifts include:
- Morning Lead: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Mid/Evening Lead: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Support Operations: Approximately 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with flexibility to extend coverage when needed.
Managers rotate responsibilities to become well-rounded leaders across all areas of the restaurant.
Our Saturday schedule is similar, but managers rotate weekends so you'll typically work every other Saturday. We close at 7:00 PM on Saturdays, so there are no late-night closes.
We're closed every Sunday, giving our leadership team a consistent day off each week—a rare benefit in the restaurant industry.
We're a locally owned business that believes great restaurants are built by great people. We value hard work, teamwork, integrity, and leaders who care about the people around them.
This is a working manager position. Our leaders don't manage from behind a desk—they're on the floor coaching employees, serving guests, solving problems, and setting the pace. If you're looking for a role where you can lead from the front, make a difference, and help shape the culture of a well-established Lafayette restaurant, we'd love to hear from you.
