Summary: Responsible for testing raw and finished products and meticulously entering the results into excel spreadsheets. This position measures, tests, interprets, and records data necessary to assist in the production of safe products that meet the established quality standards.

 

Responsibilities/Duties: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum expectations include but are not limited to: 

  • Entering part numbers and addresses into an inventory system.
  • Printing labels and labeling bins and shelves.
  • May help in relocating parts to new locations.
  • Conduct testing on raw and ready to eat product
  • Enter results into Excel speadsheet
  • Attention to detail.
  • Interest in QA (Quality Assurance) is a plus.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry 30 pounds.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by the department manager, process improvements, cost savings, and efficiencies.

Qualifications:

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, ETC: 

  • Required education generally a high school diploma or GED; an AA or BS in food science, biology, or chemistry is a plus; or 2 or more years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a quality function strongly encouraged.
  • Requires a basic understanding of GMP’s, HACCP, and SQF guidelines.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.  Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and or procedure manuals.  Ability to complete routine forms, daily production documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.  Ability to perform these operations using any or all units of weight measurement, volume, distance, and American money.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in any or all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to evaluate product based on experience and visible attributes.
  • Requires specific knowledge of internet programs, spreadsheet and word processing software, this employee should have basic typing abilities.  This position also requires knowledge of operation of fax, copy machine, printer, phone/voice mail, and other basic office equipment.
  • Strong decision-making skills, training skills, problem analysis skills, teamwork, and creativity.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.

 

Physical Requirements:

Individuals may need to sit or stand regularly. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or Lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as a bump cap and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The noise level in the production areas, work environment is loud.
