JOB DESCRIPTION:
Old Trail School is seeking a School Counselor to serve on a comprehensive Student Wellness and
Support Services Team that includes a Director of Student Wellness and Learning Services (also a School
Psychologist), three Learning Specialists, a Speech & Language Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist,
and a School Nurse. The candidate will be expected to be a role model for the School’s core values:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serving as an engaged, creative, energized, collaborative, and committed member of the
- Leading, organizing, and being responsible for developing and delivering an exceptional,
learning curriculum to students at Old Trail School.
- Advises and counsels students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and
- Appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists and collaborates with them to

REQUIRED SKILLS:
The ideal candidate will understand the educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of
students and have expertise in collaborating with additional professionals to support school needs. They
will also be facile with the creation of social-emotional support plans and experienced with teacher
consultation, specifically with the early childhood to eighth-grade population. Excellent oral and written
communication skills are critical. This role requires flexibility, creative problem-solving, and effective
collaboration with teachers, administrators, students, and parents. A solid grounding in child
development is essential. We are seeking an individual who derives true joy from facilitating growth in
children and who demonstrates enthusiasm for ongoing professional development.
CREDENTIALS:
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or school counseling (master’s degree preferred)
- State of Ohio Licensure in counseling and/or social work
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience strongly preferred
