Job Summary:
The Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Summer Camp Coordinator from approximately May to August to manage the daily operations of a performing arts Summer Camp for 6 - 11 year olds. The individual will work closely with camp administrators, counselors, teachers, families, and onsite staff to ensure a safe, engaging, and joyful camp experience for all participants.
Essential Functions:
Train and supervise day-to-day operations of summer camp programs, including schedules, room usage, and supplies
Ensure smooth and safe transitions between activities and classes
Serves as a leader in behavior management and problem solving
Serve as the primary point of contact for staff during camp hours
Foster a collaborative, positive, and inclusive work environment
Provide feedback to counselors in daily meetings in order to ensure camp objectives
Act as a liaison between counselors, campers, caregivers, and administrators
Keep inventory of camp supplies and maintain a clean camp area
Oversee daily camp drop-off and pick-up procedures
Troubleshoot logistical and operational issues as they arise
Assist in creating a final performance piece
Administrative Duties
Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate positively with staff and leadership
Experience planning, preparing, and facilitating age-appropriate activities for non-class times
Effectively engage campers and maintain their attention in a positive, structured manner
Creative thinker with the ability to design fun, engaging programs
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexible and adaptable; able to improvise and adjust activities as needed
Qualifications
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
Previous teaching or camp experience
Bilingual Spanish is preferred
Previous experience working with children
Prior supervisory or leadership experience
Required Education and Experience:
Some college credit or higher, preferably in recreation, education or child development
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must be over 21 years of age
Physical Requirements
Perform all physical aspects of the position which include interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc, lifting equipment as needed (up to approximately 20 lbs.), and participating in outdoor activities.
