What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant General Manager (Future General Manager Track) position at Old Town Bluffton Inn?
Assistant General Manager (Future General Manager Track)
Old Town Bluffton Inn | Bluffton, South Carolina
This is not a traditional hotel management role.
Old Town Bluffton Inn is seeking a hands-on, warm, operationally minded Assistant General
Manager with leadership instincts, hospitality intuition, and a genuine desire to master the craft of
boutique hotel hospitality.
For the right person, this role offers a rare opportunity to learn every aspect of running an
award-winning luxury boutique inn directly from owner-operators Vince and Danielle Harrison—with
a pathway toward future General Manager leadership.
We are not looking for someone to simply manage shifts. We are looking for a future operator.
Someone who naturally notices what others miss, takes initiative without being asked, and finds
satisfaction in making things better.
Who Thrives Here
You are warm, emotionally intelligent, organized, and commercially minded. You understand that
exceptional hotel hospitality is more than a front desk interaction—it is the orchestration of an
experience. You notice the details: lighting, music, presentation, cleanliness, guest energy, pacing,
and atmosphere.
You are a player-coach leader. You lead from the front, jump in when needed, and understand that
great hospitality is hands-on.
What Success Looks Like
After 12 months, the right person has helped improve organization, culture, operational efficiency,
guest experience, revenue awareness, inventory, vendor coordination, scheduling, and team
camaraderie. Guests know your name. The team trusts you. Ownership trusts you.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily hotel operations and guest experience
• Help oversee scheduling, organization, inventory, and vendors
• Participate in revenue awareness and rate optimization
• Create memorable, personalized guest experiences
• Step into hands-on operational tasks wherever needed
• Help build a close-knit, high-performing hospitality team
• Support breakfast presentation and light food preparation
• Help maintain the beauty and intentional feel of the inn
What We’re Looking For
• Prior hotel hospitality experience required (hotel experience specifically)
• Strong leadership presence with humility and coachability
• Ownership mentality and solutions-oriented thinking
• Self-starter who sees quiet moments as opportunities to improve
• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
• Comfortable with weekends, holidays, and boutique hotel flexibility
• Comfortable lifting 20 pounds, navigating stairs, and staying active
Compensation
$55,000–$70,000 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth based on
leadership and performance.
