Position Overview:
The Data Analyst role delivers enterprise data analytics and business intelligence to support data‑driven decision‑making across Regulatory Compliance and Compliance Shared Services. Based at the Chicago corporate office, the role provides analysis of operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) across ORI’s decentralized operating company structure.
This role partners closely with insurance operations, compliance, and designated project leads, as well as business owners, to source and transform data, implement and monitor controls, perform statistical analysis, and develop enterprise‑level reporting and visualizations. Dashboard reporting is expected to highlight trends, patterns, and risk indicators that inform strategic initiatives, support governance objectives, and drive operational consistency across the operating companies.
Essential Job Functions:
● Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex statistical analysis
● Completes the gathering and cleaning processes for data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and quality
● Uses statistical methods and techniques to identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies, and extract meaningful insights
● Develops and maintains dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data findings effectively
● Identifies KPIs and develops metrics to inform operational design as well as tactical and strategic decision‑making from various systems (Licensing, Filing, Underwriting, Finance, Contracts, compliance systems to assess key compliance risks KRIs and operational KPIs, etc.)
● Collaborates with cross functional teams to optimize data collection, storage, and retrieval processes that will foster positive relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
● Address reporting errors and system-created issues through data analysis and problem-solving
● Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, visualization, and reporting
Qualifications:
● At least 3 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, BI analyst, or related profession
● Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting and complex functions (e.g., pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas)
● Advanced-level experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Smartsheets
● Expert knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and concepts for both descriptive and inferential statistics
● Knowledge of data visualization best practices to effectively communicate insight
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex datasets and generate meaningful insights
● Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing concepts
● Ability to work with large datasets through data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation techniques
● Excellent communication skills to convey complex data findings to both technical and business executives
● Attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and integrity
