Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ultimately responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities across our enterprise. This high-impact role requires a seasoned finance executive with deep expertise in insurance accounting, operational leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Adapt and scale accounting strategies as the company grows, ensuring teams are well-supported during periods of growth and change.
- Advise executive leadership on financial policy, risk management, and provide insightful analysis of financial results, trends and variances.
- Manage external and internal audit processes and serve as primary audit contact.
- Develop financial forecasts, financial modeling, and enterprise risk assessments.
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor quarterly.
- Establish and maintain strong financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support regulatory inquiries and third-party proceedings with financial analysis.
- Drive process improvements in financial planning & analysis to enhance efficiency and accuracy, and steward associated financial forecasting and reporting systems.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Finance team, setting clear goals, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging collaboration and teamwork across departments.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance skills and knowledge. Provide appropriate learning opportunities and knowledge transfer as needed.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to help ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles.
- Prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience in insurance, reinsurance, or regulated financial services preferred.
- Experience with government or regulatory bodies is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge in STAT and GAAP accounting principles.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills; ability to align accounting initiatives with business objectives and organizational performance.
- Advanced Excel and presentation skills for executive-level reporting.
- Strong leadership, judgment, and communication skills.
