What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Old Post Road School?
Walpole Public Schools is seeking a night custodian, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 10:00 pm split between Boyden Elementary School and the Old Post Road Schools starting immediately. Salary and benefits per the Custodian Contract.
Sample of tasks and duties:
- Cleans floors, walls, windows, ceilings and fixtures, giving special attention to areas that are used to handle and serve food.
- Maintains the safety and security of entrance and egress locations (doors, windows, etc.) both during and after the close of the school day.
- Reports immediately to the Head Custodian or Principal all defective items that require special or urgent attention.
- Reports promptly to the Head Custodian or Principal any defacement of property and removes promptly any obscene writings on equipment, wall, etc.
- Maintains adequate supplies of towels, soap, etc., in all lavatories.
- Informs Head Custodian and maintains adequate levels of all necessary custodial supplies and materials.
- Using appropriate safety procedures, lifts and moves heavy items and climbs ladders to ten (10) or more feet.
- Performs minor repair tasks and light grounds care duties.
- Operates polishing, burnishing, and other custodial equipment.
- Monitors proper temperature and ventilation in the various areas of the building and corrects or reports any variance from the norm.
- Maintains the school grounds so that they are free of waste paper, rubbish and other debris.
- Shovels and removes snow from areas immediate to the building perimeter and treats for icing of fire escapes, stairs, doorways, walkways, etc.
- Receives, inventories, stores and delivers general school supplies and materials.
- Attends safety, procedural and product training sessions.
- Represent the best interest of the school, staff, Administration and the School Committee in handling of both routine and emergency events.
- Refers all cases of routine and serious discipline to teachers or administrative staff except, in the absence of both, when action should be taken to protect the safety of students, staff or school property.
- Such other duties as may be, from time to time, assigned by the Head Custodian or Principal.
Minimum Salary 24.16 plus additional night differential $1.75 per hour.
