What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Old Port Sea Grill?
About Us:
We are a well-established, high volume Seafood Restaurant proudly serving the community since 2002. We are open seven days a week and specialize in Maine-focused, elevated comfort food.
The position available offers full time work year-round in a five day schedule consisting of three doubles and two half shifts. Overtime is available but never mandated. The kitchen management is exceptionally well organized with clear systems, operating procedures, and approachability.
Upon hiring, we implement a flexible, probationary period in which the teammate would start at a competitive wage. When concluded, a wage increase evaluation will be performed.
Potential candidates will be offered a paid stage to determine not only if we find them to be a good fit for us, but if we are a great fit for them.
Duties:
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality standards
- Assist with food preparation and assembly
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, and fryers
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
Skills:
- Culinary skills: Ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes
- Kitchen experience: Familiarity with working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Food safety knowledge: Awareness of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices
- Experience in the food industry: Previous work experience in a restaurant or food service setting
- Knife skills: Proficiency in using knives for food preparation
- Team player: Ability to work well with others in a collaborative kitchen environment
- Attention to detail: Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality
- Physical stamina: Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects as needed
