What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Cabinetmaker in Custom Millwork Shop position at Old Mine Carpentry?
We’re a Hudson Valley shop that specializes in high-end residential cabinetry and millwork. We’re looking for an experienced lead cabinetmaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in woodworking and custom cabinetry, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy shop environment and managing installs in the field. General responsibilities
-Fabricate and assemble high-quality custom cabinets, furniture, etc.
-Read and interpret CAD models, sketches, and work orders
-Ensure all components are properly measured, cut, and assembled with attention to detail and craftsmanship
-Problem solving and engineering skills in the shop and in the field
-Collaborate with other team members, including designers, project managers, and apprentices, to ensure timely and high-quality project completion
-Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow all safety procedures
-Inspect final products for quality and make adjustments as necessary to meet specifications
-Assist in the setup and installation of cabinets, hardware, and other components as needed
Qualifications:
-Proven experience as a Cabinetmaker or in a similar woodworking trade (5 years )
-Proficiency in using woodworking tools and machinery, both hand and power tools
-Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, materials, and finishes
-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project plans
-Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in woodworking
-Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and craftsmanship
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with clients and team members
-A positive attitude and strong work ethic
-A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Bonus Qualifications:
-Experience drafting in CAD
-Familiarity with finishing processes (spray finishing especially)
