We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our veterinary practice, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinarians in delivering exceptional services. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
- Monitoring emergency sedation for all ASA classifications.
- Triage of emergency patients.
- Intensive care nursing
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any changes to the veterinarian.
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Assist with kennel duties, including cleaning and maintaining animal housing areas.
Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of emergency veterinary medicine and procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years emergency & critical care experience.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to veterinary medicine.
- Understanding of animal physiology and behavior.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- A strong desire for learning within the field of veterinary medicine
- A willingness to mentor and teach.
