Job Description
Old Grove Orange is an 81-acre organic, regenerative farm located 60 miles east of Los Angeles in Redlands, CA. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, professional Farmer Interpreter. The Farmer Interpreter is a paid position that gives its applicants an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in regenerative agriculture, agribusiness, and agricultural education. We think of the Farmer Interpreter as someone who not only farms but is good with people, someone that can represent farming to the general public. The Farmer Interpreter is responsible for leading Farm Field Trips and hosting Mini Farmers Market assemblies at elementary school sites (70%), as well as engaging in general farm work (30%). Job Details (Full Time - 40 hours/week)
- Monday-Friday, 8 hours/day. Willing to work on weekends, but no more than 5 days/week
- Minimum one year commitment, with a three month trial period prior to full time conversion
- Start date: January 5th, 2026 or as mutually agreed
Job Duties:
- Lead Farm Field Trips for KG-6th graders, Farm Tours for members of the public
- Host Mini Farmers Market assemblies at elementary school sites
- Help with farm events and on-farm programming for Lunch Ladies/Meal Men
- Assist farmers in general farm work - planting, weeding, etc
- Assist farmers in animal care - feeding, cleaning, etc
- Maintain safety procedures and sanitation guidelines
Requirements:
- Able to effectively communicate and interact with all customers - especially children!
- Able to follow instructions, adopt a proactive approach to tasks, and work well independently
- Maintain a positive attitude and communicate any issues to direct supervisors
- Test negative for Tuberculosis, pass fingerprinting & DOJ background check to work with children
- Valid driver's license
- Bilingual - English & Spanish (preferred)
- Experience with farming produce or raising animals (preferred)
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of full time work, preferably in Agriculture or Education
Compensation:
- Hourly wage begins at $17/hour, DOE
