What are the responsibilities and job description for the Old Chicago Front of House (Host/Server/Bartender) position at Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom?
Job title: Front of House Team — Hosts, Servers & Bartenders
Company: Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom — Hutchinson, KS
Job types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: [$2.13-$15.00/hour tips] · Shift: Days, nights, weekends · Tips: Yes
Come pour, serve, and host at Hutchinson's taproom
Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom has been built on two things since 1976: deep-dish pizza worth driving for, and one of the best beer lineups you'll find anywhere. Our Hutchinson taproom pours handles of craft, local, and import beer alongside a full-scale scratch kitchen — and our World Beer Tour keeps guests coming back to work their way through the list.
We're hiring Hosts, Servers, and Bartenders to run our front of house. If you like a fast floor, a full dining room, and a team that actually has each other's backs, apply once and we'll talk about which spot fits you best.
What we offer
- Competitive hourly pay plus tips
- Flexible scheduling built around school, family, and second jobs — schedules posted days in advance
- Shift meals and generous team discounts
- Paid training and beer education — we'll teach you the taps, the styles, and how to talk about them
- Real advancement: most of our shift leads and managers started on the floor
- Fair, professional, no-drama management. We run a clean shift.
The roles
Host / Hostess
You're the first and last impression of the visit. You'll greet every guest by name when you can, manage the waitlist and quote times honestly, seat the floor to keep sections balanced, handle to-go traffic, and keep the entry and lobby sharp. Great hosts control the pace of the whole restaurant — this is not a "stand at the podium" job.
Server
You'll own your section start to finish: greet fast, know the menu and the beer list cold, guide guests to something they'll love, keep drinks full, pre-bus, and hit your table touches. You'll learn our craft beer program well enough to make a real recommendation and to sign guests up for the World Beer Tour. Accuracy, timing, and hospitality are the job.
Bartender
You'll run the bar as its own restaurant: build cocktails to spec, pour a proper draft with the right head, change kegs, keep the well and back bar stocked, run tabs cleanly, and take care of a full bar top while still firing drinks for the servers. You'll check IDs every time and be comfortable refusing service when it's the right call. Craft beer knowledge is a big plus — we'll build on whatever you bring.
What we're looking for
- A positive attitude and genuine hospitality — we hire for personality and train the rest
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and friendly during a rush
- Reliability: you show up on time, in uniform, ready to work
- Availability on nights and weekends, including [Fri/Sat dinner]
- Ability to stand and walk for extended shifts and lift up to [30] lbs
- Servers/Bartenders: must meet Kansas age requirements to serve or mix alcoholic beverages and complete [required alcohol server training] — [confirm exact age and certification wording against your license class before posting]
- Hosts: [16] with a work permit where required
- Previous restaurant experience is welcome but not required — we train the right people from scratch
How to apply
Apply through Indeed and we'll reach out to set up an interview, usually within [48 hours]. You can also stop by in person at [street address], Hutchinson, KS — [best hours to walk in, e.g. Mon–Thu 2–4pm] — and ask for a manager.
Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status.
Two things worth doing before you post: fill in the pay range (Indeed's own data shows postings with a listed range get substantially more applicants, and hourly candidates filter on it), and verify the Kansas age and server-training language with your license class rather than using my placeholder.
Want me to save this to the project as a reusable hiring doc, or split it into three separate postings? Separate postings usually pull better on Indeed since the title matches what people search — "Server" and "Bartender" get far more searches than "Front of House Team."
