What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAMP ROBIN ADAPTIVE RECREATION ASSISTANT position at Old Bridge Township?
The Township of Old Bridge is seeking qualified and dependable Camp ROBIN Adaptive Recreation Assistants . The selected candidates must be fully available to work seasonally for 8 weeks. Each program we offer is held once per week for a total of 8 sessions.
Spring Season - mid-March to mid-May Fall Season - mid-October to mid-December
Support is needed in our Basketball program as well as Friday Night Fun , which features structured social and recreational activities for participants.
Hourly Rate: $15.92 - $23.00 Based on qualifications and experience.
The Adaptive Recreation Assistant is responsible for supervising and actively engaging participants in recreational, educational, and social activities. This role ensures participant safety, well-being, and enjoyment by providing appropriate support and guidance, managing group dynamics, and serving as a positive role model. The Aide maintains a safe, organized environment while overseeing a small, assigned group of participants and maintaining regular communication with the Team Supervisor and fellow staff members.
The Adaptive Recreation Assistant reports directly to the Adaptive Recreation Supervisor and Camp Coordinator. Experience working with children with learning disabilities, as well as certifications such as CPR and First Aid, are considered a plus .
The camp site is located at Geick Park, 4141 Rt 516, Matawan NJ 07747 .
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Foster a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
- Assist the Adaptive Recreation Supervisor with implementing daily activity plans while actively engaging participants and supporting their emotional, physical, and cognitive needs.
- Demonstrate the physical stamina required to participate in activities, including walking outdoors, supporting individuals who use walkers, and assisting with a range of activities such as bowling and basketball.
- Provide one-on-one supervision when assigned.
- Maintain constant supervision of participants, enforce program rules, and seek guidance or assistance as needed. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Examples of Friday Night Fun Activities Include:
- Attending movies
- Participating in arts and crafts projects
- Dinner and dance events
- Bowling outings
- Visiting local arcades
- Attending live theater performances
