Old Back Nine Greenskeeper Position Summary

The Greenskeeper is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance and care of the golf course to ensure safe, clean, and high-quality playing conditions. This role supports all aspects of turf management and course upkeep, with a hands-on approach. Directly reports to Golf Course Superintendent.

Course Maintenance

• Mow greens, tees, fairways, rough, and practice areas
• Set tee markers, cups, and flags; rotate hole locations
• Maintain cart paths, signage, and course cleanliness
• Assist with irrigation setup, monitoring, and minor repairs

Turf & Grounds Care

• Apply fertilizers, seed, and soil amendments as directed
• Assist with aeration, overseeding, and seasonal projects
• Identify and report turf issues (disease, pests, dry spots)
• Maintain landscaping around clubhouse and course

Equipment Operation & Care

• Operate mowers, utility vehicles, blowers, trimmers, and small equipment
• Perform basic maintenance (cleaning, fueling, checking fluids)
• Report equipment issues to supervisor

General Duties

• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
• Follow all safety procedures and proper equipment use
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 18 years and older
• Previous golf course or landscaping experience preferred (not required)
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Being consistently punctual and able to follow specific verbal or written instructions from supervisors.
• Basic knowledge of turf care or willingness to learn
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Valid driver’s license preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly

Work Environment

• Outdoors in all weather conditions
• Mandatory weekends
• Shift hours typically between 5:30am-4pm
• Small team environment with a wide variety of tasks

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
