Fill in volunteer at our Hospice House

Our ambassadors, what we like to call our volunteers, work in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Their talents are used at information desks, reception areas, patient registration, surgery family room, business offices, and hospice care - just to name a few. They also help with special projects such as Community Blood Drives and fundraising events. Ambassadors and staff work as a team to provide compassionate care and support to our patients and families.

The Hospice House on the Olathe campus of The University of Kansas Health System is a calm, friendly environment where staff and volunteers provide support to hospice patients and their families. Are you positive, patient and compassionate? Do you have a ready smile? Then we need you in our lobby and kitchen!

• Welcome families and visitors
• Answer phone calls (it's not a busy phone)
• Make coffee (easy instructions)
• Warm soup and cookies (no cooking required)
• Empty and load the dishwasher
• Stock snack trays and supply closets
• Support staff, families, and visitors
• Help with light clerical work - preparing mailings, making copies
• Fill in when other volunteers need a day off (when you're available)
• Day, evening, and weekend options
• Shifts are 3 hours in length
• Be responsible and committed - come in when you're scheduled to be here
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Background check, training, and a few immunizations are required.
