What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Education Instructor position at Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority?
The Assistant Teacher for the GED (General Education Development) program will support the Lead Teacher in delivering instruction to learners preparing for the GED exams. This includes assisting with lesson planning, and providing one-on-one support to students in the areas of language, mathematics, science and social studies. The Assistant Teacher will help create a positive and productive learning environment, ensuring they are on track to meet their GED goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with lessons aligned with the GED curriculum, providing additional support to students for maximum learning.
- Facilitate instruction to reinforce concepts and skills.
- Help students with study techniques, test-taking strategies, and time management.
- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Ensure all necessary materials are available to students
- Monitor student learning
- Maintain accurate learning records
- Provide constructive feedback while assessing assignments
- Help prepare needed resources for learning
- Assist in promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all learners
- Address students’ questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate and support Lead Teacher and others assisting in the students’ education.
- Attend staff meetings where appropriate
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred (Experience may substitute)
- Teaching certification preferred but not required; experience with GED preparation is a plus.
Pay: From $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
