About This Opportunity
As Okland's Associate Accountant, you will play a critical role in protecting the company as we continue to take on larger, more complex projects. You will lead trade partner prequalification reviews, with a particular focus on financial evaluation and risk identification. You will work closely with internal partners across Operations, Estimating, Risk Management and Legal while also communicating directly with trade partners. If you are comfortable reading financial statements, making thoughtful judgement calls, and communicating with tact and clarity, this role offers meaningful responsibility and visibility.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Trade Partner & Risk Review
- Review and analyze trade partner financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Identify financial risk indicators such as liquidity concerns, leverage trends, working capital constraints, and asset classifications
- Apply foundational accounting principles to assess overall financial health and risk exposure
- Escalate higher-risk trade partner reviews and collaborate on mitigation strategies
- Oversee trade partner prequalification reviews covering insurance, bonding, licensing and safety documentation
- Ensure reviews are completed accurately, consistently, and in alignment with internal risk thresholds
- Support ongoing improvements to tools, documentation, and review processes as the department matures
- Provide day-to-day direction and support to an Accounting Assistant handling initial reviews
- Communicate directly with trade partners regarding documentation, follow-ups, and questions
- Partner closely with Operations, Estimating, Risk Management and Legal teams to support informed project decisions
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, risk review or similar roles
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to independently read, understand, and interpret financial statements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
