GA Responsibilities
Basic function and responsibility
Under the general guidance of the Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety GA will perform a variety of duties to ensure the safety of both Campus Community and Campus facilities, through enforcing University policies and procedures.
Characteristic duties
- Routine patrols of University grounds.
- Respond to emergency calls for assistance including medical matters, fire alarms, safety escorts, building let-ins, etc.
- Documenting violations of college policy and other events by producing written incident reports.
- Lock and unlock campus buildings.
- Performs scheduled physical safety checks of campus facilities, ensuring facilities are in use by appropriate personnel.
- Enforce parking policies through issuance of parking tickets and booting/towing of vehicles when necessary.
- Work closely with members of the local police and sheriff departments on matters of mutual concern relating to the safety of the campus community.
- Campus Safety members are not sworn police officers.
- Observes and identifies people involved in suspicious activities and ensures that unauthorized persons leave the campus community.
- Implementation and training OKWU community for OKWU Lockdown procedures.
- Maintain a shift log.
- Work 20 hours per week.
- During the working hours, Safety GA’s are required to wear their safety uniform.
- Maintain radio communication with other safety personal and officers on campus.
- Monitoring campus using surveillance systems.
- Issuing parking permits.
- Must be able to work both evening and weekend schedule if needed.
- Provides on-campus escorts to College students and personnel as requested.
- Provides timely written reports to the Director of Campus Safety.
- Performs other duties if considered necessary under the guidance of the Director, via chain of command.
- Work Winter and Spring Commencement events
- Work university-wide special events when called upon by the Office of the President
