Job Summary:

A Housing Monitor in the Oklahoma County Detention Center conducts monitoring of the activity, actions, and care of inmates from within a pod office. This position is vital to not only resident safety and security, but officer safety as well through ensuring that any emergency is communicated to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. A Housing Monitor must remain focused, calm, and professional at all times. Record keeping is a large part of this role, ensuring the accuracy and validity of all recorded information, so a Housing Monitor must be highly organized and capable of writing clearly and concisely

General duties and responsibilities:

  • Observe inmates' behavior during meal pass, commissary, medication pass, and clothing change out.
  • Document visual sight checks conducted at cell doors by detention officers.
  • Call in sight checks to camera ops when necessary.
  • Call for emergency assistance when necessary.
  • Submit recreation time out report.
  • Document tier and cells that come out for recreation.
  • Document information in logbooks including meals, razor requests, housing reassignments, traffic entering and exiting pods, and any other activity.
  • Monitor suicidal inmate activity and document sight checks for suicidal inmates and complete the appropriate observation sheets.
  • Fill out inmate daily activity log for special housing inmates, making sure all recorded information is an accurate reflection of activity.
  • File incident reports as needed.
  • Keep pod offices clean.
  • Any other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age,
  • Valid ID or Driver's License,
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent,
  • U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.,
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Physical Demands: The job duties may require an employee to meet the physical requirements of everyday detention work, including sitting, standing, walking, running lifting, bending, placing and retrieving materials.

Pay: From $3,298.21 per month
