About The Program

Thunder Fellows is a youth development initiative based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that expands access to opportunities for high school and college students interested in sports, entertainment, and business. Powered by the Oklahoma City Thunder, the program provides experiential learning, mentorship, professional development, and community engagement to help participants build career readiness. Rooted in Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District, Thunder Fellows honors the legacy of Black Wall Street by championing leadership and long-term opportunity, equipping students with the skills, confidence, and networks to thrive in competitive industries.

Position Overview

The Operations Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Thunder Fellows program by coordinating logistics, facilities, vendor relationships, events, and administrative processes that support students, staff, and community partners. This role combines operational coordination with hands-on program support and requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The Operations Coordinator collaborates with internal and external partners to help ensure program operations run efficiently and support a positive participant experience.

In this role you will:

  • Serve as a key operations team member, helping ensure daily program logistics run seamlessly across students, staff, and partners
  • Support student onboarding and compliance processes, including waivers, guardian handbooks, documentation, and policy communication
  • Oversee the Student Nutrition Program, including vendor relationships, daily catering coordination, menus, event meals, and field trip meal logistics
  • Coordinate internal and external events by overseeing logistics, supplies, check-in, catering, setup and teardown, and post-event follow-up
  • Organize field trip logistics, including transportation, scheduling, vendor communication, meals, materials, and day-of execution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for building operations while supporting administrative systems, procurement, documentation, inventory, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and shuttle maintenance
  • Administer assigned program budgets and expenses, including invoice processing, vendor payments, cost tracking, and event or project budget administration
  • Support creative and marketing workflows by coordinating creative requests and assisting with content capture and social media initiatives
  • Maintain relationships with community partners, local businesses, and organizations to support program initiatives and community engagement
  • Support intern supervision, task delegation, and professional development, as assigned
  • Support recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new student cohorts, ensuring an organized onboarding experience for students and families
  • Assist with daily program operations by supporting student supervision, activities, and other program needs, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, youth-focused environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, community partners, students, and families
  • Experience with event planning, vendor coordination, and budget tracking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and familiarity with project management and communication platforms (e.g., Teamworks or similar tools)
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments
  • Knowledge of, or, established relationships within the Tulsa and Oklahoma City communities

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, hourly position reporting to the Director, Thunder Fellows. The primary work location is the Thunder Fellows headquarters in Tulsa's historic Greenwood District. The work schedule includes regular office hours and requires availability for select evenings and weekends to support after-school, summer, and special program activities. Physical requirements include driving, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
