- Complete salary verifications with the appropriate requested information after receiving the employee’s written consent. Interface with DHS, mortgage companies, social security etc. to provide requested information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Analyze payroll processing reports for variances and research discrepancies. Process flow/ problem solving are key elements of this function.
- Update master data per employee requests for W-4, address, banking information, etc.
- Input stipend payments and maintain accurate files with supporting documentation. This position may also maintain the electronic stipend summary report.
- Use clear and appropriate language in all communications.
- Maintain good Customer Service relationships (both external and internal customers) by responding promptly and courteously to customer needs and expectations.

- All Financial Services personnel, Human Resources, mortgage lenders, social security, DHS, leasing agencies, payday loan companies and all employees with payroll related questions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of payroll or finance related experience.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel), particularly Excel.
- Demonstrates dependability by consistently working their set work schedule.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including emails, by phone, and in person.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.

- In-depth knowledge of wage verification requirements, including DHS specific requirements.
- Knowledge of payroll practices and procedures including levies and garnishments, pretax deductions, and overtime pay compliance.
- CPP or FPC certification.
- Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer.
- Able to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone.
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.

Payroll Specialist
Position Summary: This position ensures departmental goals are met by processing employment verifications from mortgage companies, Social Security, leasing agencies and others. This position is the liaison for all DHS questions/wage reporting. Input stipend payments and maintain supporting documentation. During payroll processing the payroll specialist analyzes payroll reports and payment discrepancies to determine the underlying cause. This analysis includes many facets of payroll/master data, including but not limited to time entry, SAP employee master data records and additional payments. This position interfaces with all levels of employees and unions to answer detailed payroll questions. Customer service is an integral part of the Payroll positions.
