Essential Duties
Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):
- Plans, organizes, and conducts emergency training workshops and drills to evaluate the effectiveness of the district’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
- Assists campuses in maintaining compliance with district policies and the Oklahoma Education Code, supporting safe learning environments.
- Provides consultation and technical assistance to the School Board and partnering districts to enhance emergency preparedness in educational settings.
- Partners with the Director of Security & Emergency Management to develop and deliver district-wide safety and security training programs.
- Trains with district emergency mission partners during the summer months to build collaborative emergency response capacity.
- Provides training and support to first responders, parents, volunteer agencies, and other community stakeholders involved in emergency management.
- Maintains a records management system to track and analyze incidents related to self-harm, school threats, and suspicious activity.
- Assists the School Resource Officer(s) in investigations of illegal or suspicious activities to ensure a safe and equitable school environment.
- Supports community-wide emergency management efforts through consultation and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Maintains data systems and equipment for OKCPS’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
- Coordinates with the Oklahoma City Regional Multi-agency Coordination Center (RMACC), and the Oklahoma State Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
- Coordinates with the district technology department to support automated emergency management systems critical for response and recovery.
- Assists the district IT Department in developing and maintaining IT infrastructure to enhance safety and security operations.
- Collects and analyzes district-wide safety and security data for reporting and continuous improvement.
- Manages the district’s drill and exercise program and oversees after-action reports for accountability and readiness.
- Performs other duties as assigned in alignment with the district’s mission and values.

- Associate’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Homeland Security, Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in emergency management, public safety, incident response, operations coordination, or related work involving planning, training, or emergency operations.

- Experience supporting or coordinating incident response, drills, training, or emergency planning in a school district, municipality, university, or similar operational environment.
- Knowledge of FEMA’s National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) structure.
- Familiarity with district or municipal emergency plans, hazard mitigation, continuity planning, and crisis communications.
- Understanding of school safety-related laws, policies, and emergency procedures (e.g., severe weather, lockdown/lockout, evacuation, fires, reunification).
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local emergency management regulations, including Oklahoma school safety requirements.
- Proficiency with emergency notification systems, communication platforms, and basic incident management technologies.
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze emergency management data and produce clear written reports.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
- FEMA ICS/NIMS courses required or obtained within 6 months:
- ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, IS-800
- Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
- Familiarity with maintenance workflows, HVAC systems, transportation logistics, or custodial operations.
- Experience with CMMS platforms such as SchoolDude, FMX, AssetWorks, or similar.
- Knowledge of SQL or other data querying languages.
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, reach and climb stairs.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
