Job Overview
The Membership and Engagement Coordinator is an essential member of the Development team, responsible for managing the Museum’s membership portfolio. The Membership and Event Coordinator will oversee and steward individual members up to $1,200; fulfill all membership benefits across levels; spearhead membership campaigns using a variety of communication methods; develop and implement strategies for increasing membership retention and attracting new members; and serve as a liaison to the Museum’s Moderns affiliate group.
Acquisition and Marketing
• Develop, manage, market and grow the total number of individuals and households participating in the Museum’s membership programs.
• Collaborate on and implement effective marketing campaigns to attract new members, renew current members, and re-engage lapsed members, with a particular focus on increasing new members.
• Write compelling renewal/solicitation letter copy and email solicitations.
• Act as membership liaison to the marketing department.
• Develop and implement strategies for maintaining, building, and evaluating the membership program.
• Track success metrics of membership benefits and programs, using data to assess effectiveness and adoption and inform strategies.
• Work cross-departmentally with Museum teams to promote membership.
Stewardship, Engagement, and Benefit Fulfillment
• Oversee the individual membership program, meeting annual revenue and retention goals; ensure delivery of membership benefits across membership levels.
• Develop membership retention and engagement plans such as membership renewal reminders and phone call reminders.
• Foster continued engagement of Museum’s affinity and affiliate groups.
• Assist Development Events Manager with membership events in collaboration with development department staff and other departments as needed.
• Work with the Director of Development and Development Officer with identifying members to upgrade support.
Moderns
• Serve as a staff liaison to the Moderns Affiliate Group.
• Assist Moderns Steering Committee in coordination of membership goals and events in collaboration with Museum education staff liaison.
• Performs administrative tasks related to Moderns membership in support of committee initiatives, including generating membership reports and analysis, and any expense reports as needed.
• Supports Committee marketing efforts as needed, including creation of e-blasts and webpage updates.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• One to three years of related experience working in membership, marketing, development, non-profits, preferably for a museum or cultural institution.
