Job Summary:
We are looking to hire a Pharmacy Technician to be responsible for handling customer transactions and inventory at our pharmacy. You will be dispensing both prescription and over the counter medicine to customers/patients. You will also be responsible for recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulations. In order to be a successful candidate, you must display excellent communication skills and an affinity for great customer service. You must be willing to collaborate with other healthcare professionals within our clinic.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately prepares medication orders for dispensing by the pharmacist by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, labeling and mixing medications.
- Coordinates billing and obtains cost approval.
- Enters patient and medication order information into the pharmacy system.
- Processes and submits insurance claims.
- Assists patients and prescribers with the Prior Authorization process.
- Provides quality customer service to patients and other healthcare providers.
- Processes new and refill prescriptions in a timely manner.
- Promotes patients' drug adherence.
- Coordinates responses and resolutions with appropriate internal and external parties.
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner that is consistent with APS policies and as well as state and federal laws.
- Assists the pharmacist with inventory of drugs.
- Ensures security of pharmacy and medications.
- Verifies the information on the prescription is complete and accurate before submitting claim to insurance.
- Receives written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
- Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Answers telephones in a timely manner, responding to questions or requests.
- Oversees inventory and cleanliness of Over the Counter medications and supplies for sale, including snacks and drinks.
- Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
- Assists pharmacist with monitoring and increasing patient compliance.
- Operates cash registers to accept payment from customers.
- Files prescription hard copies that have been filled.
- Cleans, and helps maintain, equipment and work areas, according to prescribed methods.
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
- Receives and stores incoming supplies, verifies quantities against invoices, and informs supervisors of stock needs and shortages.

Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Oklahoma State Pharmacy Board rules and regulations as it pertains to Arthritis Pharmacy Solutions.
- Knowledge of brand/generic conversions and proficient in pharmacy math calculating dose or day supply.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy chain of command and workflow.
Skills:
- Skill in customer service.
- Skill in effectively interacting with patients, visitors, providers, administration and all staff members.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Skill in computer programs including Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook, Pharmacy Prescription management software, and point of sales software.

- Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors.
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification and license
- 2 years experience as Pharmacy Technician
- Liberty pharmacy software experience - preferred
- Associates Degree - Preferred
- Specialty pharmacy experience - Preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Physical ability to sit, perform data entry and view computer screen for long periods at a time.
- Daily standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering.
- May require lifting up to 50 pounds or more.
Environmental Conditions:
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
This is a safety sensitive position.
Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required.
Scheduled Working Hours:
Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays. Hours may vary depending upon the needs of the position, department, and clinic.
