PCB Design Support

Role Expectations:
- Design and develop electronic hardware, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, power electronics, microcontroller-based systems, and electro-mechanical interfaces.
- Develop, modify, and maintain embedded software/firmware to support electronic designs, including device drivers, control algorithms, communication interfaces, and test/debug utilities.
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), design analyses, and interface control documents.
- Review and release printed circuit board fabrication and assembly files (e.g., Gerber files) for completeness and manufacturability.
- Support the introduction of new and adopted designs into Factory New (FN) and MRO manufacturing environments, collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure producibility and testability.
- Develop or support development of test methods, test procedures, and automated or semi-automated test equipment, including software-based test solutions.
- Address component and system obsolescence by identifying qualified replacements and redesigning hardware and/or software as required to maintain form, fit, and function.
- Participate in drawing change processes (ECRs, ECNs) and configuration control activities.
- Provide technical support to Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Sales as needed.
- Assist Purchasing in resolving supplier technical issues, component selection, and specification interpretation.
- Perform technical reviews of RFQs, purchase orders, and externally supplied designs.
- Participate in material review board (MRB) activities related to electronic and electro-mechanical products.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and support cross-training initiatives within the engineering team.
- Participate in concurrent engineering activities and cross-functional design reviews.
- Support technical evaluation of electronic and electro-mechanical products for potential licensing.
- Participate in management, program, and engineering meetings as required.
Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in aerospace or high-reliability electronics design
- Strong knowledge of electronic hardware design, including schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, component selection, and design for manufacturability/test
- Demonstrated experience in embedded software or firmware development, including C/C or equivalent languages for microcontrollers or processors
- Proficiency in reading and developing circuit schematics (analog, digital, microcontrollers, power circuits).
- Working knowledge of electronic assembly and workmanship standards including IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 (Class 3 preferred)
- Experience with test and measurement systems; familiarity with NI LabVIEW, PXI systems, or similar test software environments desirable
- Understanding of aerospace materials, processes, environmental requirements, and regulatory considerations
- Knowledge of configuration management, drawing practices, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with FAA Repair Station procedures and regulations preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software domains
- Ability to communicate effectively and produce clear, concise technical documentation
- Project management and task-prioritization skills in a fast-paced engineering environment
