Food Services Coordinator

About the position: The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, food safety, and regulatory compliance of all OCCDA kitchens, ensuring food service activities meet Head Start Performance Standards, ECEAP Performance Standards and requirements, Washington State food safety requirements, USDA requirements, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations. The position is responsible for the management and administration of the CACFP grant, including required documentation, reporting, monitoring, training, and compliance activities. The Coordinator provides guidance and operational support to kitchen staff and assists with kitchen coverage when able, while staffing supervision and personnel management remain the responsibility of designated supervisors.
As a member of the Leadership Team and an integral part of the content team, the Food Services Coordinator collaborates with program and fiscal staff to ensure children receive safe, nutritious, and developmentally appropriate meals. The position works closely with the Fiscal Department to coordinate monthly bulk food ordering, inventory, and distribution of food and supplies to each OCCDA kitchen. The Coordinator serves as a resource to agency staff regarding food service operations, nutrition, food safety, and CACFP requirements and performs other duties necessary to support the agency's food service program.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements - Understanding of Washington State food safety requirements, USDA/CACFP regulations, and Head Start/ECEAP food service standards.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills - Ability to manage CACFP documentation, reporting, monitoring, meal records, inventory, ordering, and compliance deadlines accurately and consistently.
- Leadership and communication skills - Ability to provide guidance, training, and support to kitchen staff and collaborate effectively with program, fiscal, and leadership teams without directly supervising staff.
- Experience with food service operations and nutrition - Practical knowledge of kitchen operations, meal planning, nutrition, food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining safe and efficient food service practices.
- Attention to detail and commitment to compliance - Ability to identify problems, follow through on corrective actions, maintain accurate records, and ensure requirements are consistently met across multiple kitchens.
Required Education and Experience:
- ServSafe Manager Certification within 60 days of hire
- Knowledge of food safety and USDA requirements
- 3 years cooking experience for 25 people or more
- 2 years demonstrated experience, which reflects progressive responsibilities in a kitchen
- Previous experience in program or kitchen management, preferred
Details
- 30hrs/week
- 48 Weeks per year (one week off at spring break and two at winter break)
- Wage $23.95 per hour
